Benton Hospice is now offering monthly caregiver support groups and grief support groups in Albany, Lebanon and Corvallis, as well as a new Young Adult Grief Support Group in Corvallis. See below for the full schedule.

MONTHLY

  • Comfort Crafting Circle
    Meets in Corvallis first and third Wednesday each month, 1:00 - 2:00 pm
    Knit, crochet, or craft items for hospice patients and family members

  • Community Grief Support Group
    This is an open, drop-in support group for anyone in the community who is grieving a death of someone they care about. Please call or email the Bereavement Coordinator for more information.

    • The second and fourth Fridays of the month, 3:30-5:00pm; at Benton Hospice Service in Corvallis. Click here for a map and directions. No group November 23, 2012 due to holiday office closure.

  • Caregiver Support Group
    An ongoing monthly support group Open to all family caregivers in our community regardless of type of illness or prognosis. The purpose of this group is to provide a format for sharing common experiences and for supporting one another along the difficult path of caregiving. Drop-ins are welcome.

    • In Corvallis the second & last Tuesday of each month, 1:30-3:00pm; Benton Hospice Service Meeting Room, 2350 NW Professional Drive. Click here for a map and directions
    • In Lebanon the second Thursday of each month, 10:00-11:30am; Lebanon Senior Center; 80 Tangent Street. Click here for a map and directions.
  • Circle of Supporting Friends
    A network of bereaved survivors that meets for lunches, dinners, and other social gatherings. This group is not facilitated by Benton Hospice Service staff. Please call or email the Bereavement Coordinator for more information. 
  • Yoga Through Grief
    Explore ways to cope with grief through gentle movement. No experience necessary. Next class to be held in Fall 2013. Please call or email the Bereavement Coordinator for more information.

July 2013 

  • Grief Education and Support Groups
    Six-week series Thursday evenings, beginning July 11 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm OR Friday mornings,  beginning July 12 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

    Pre-registration is required and a brief orientation must be completed at registration.
    There is no charge to participate in this six-week series.
    Please contact the Bereavement Coordinator for more information or to register.

    All groups meet at Benton Hospice Service, 2350 NW Professional Drive, Corvallis.

  • New Volunteer Training
    Share your talents, skills, and compassion! We need volunteers who can provide companionship for patients and breaks for patients' caregivers, or can help with administrative and outreach tasks.

    Tuesday and Thursday, July 23 and 25, 2-day respite and companion training from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm both days. Trainees for administrative and outreach volunteering only need to attend November 6 from 8:30 am to noon.

    Pre-registration is required. There is no charge for the training, but voluntary donations are accepted to offset training expenses. For location and more information, call or email the Volunteer Coordinator.

August 2013

  • Camp Compass; a place for families to share and learn about grief
    This is a camp that offers time in nature, art, rest, play, food, learning and healing activities for families with children 5 to 17 who are grieving the death of a person in the last two years. Click here to view camp brochure.

    One-day camp; Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

    Registration is required by August 1, 2013. After registration families will meet with the Bereavement Coordinator for a brief orientation. Space is limited so early registration is encouraged.

Service of Remembrance
At 6pm on Tuesday, December 3 in Dennis Hall at First Presbyterian Church, 114 SW 8th Street, Corvallis.
Our annual Service of Remembrance is a celebration of the lives of those who have died during the past year, as well as others still missed. It is a chance to remember and honor those people during the holiday season. Honorees need not have been in Benton Hospice Service care. The service will include a reading of the names. Open to the entire community
