  • Comfort Shawl Knitting Group
    1st Wednesday each month, 1:00 - 2:00 pm, BHS, 2350 NW Professional Drive. Click here for a map and directions.

    Please join this informal, drop-in group to create knitted shawls which will provide hospice patients warmth and comfort. Knitting experience optional.

  • Continuing Support Group
    This drop-in grief support group meets every second and fourth Friday of the month.

    Please call or email the Bereavement Coordinator for time and location.

SEPTEMBER 2010

  • Respite Care Volunteer Training
    Share your talents, skills, and compassion! We need volunteers who can provide breaks for our patients' caregivers. We're especially looking for volunteers who live in Linn county.

    This training session will happen over two Saturdays and two evenings:
    • Saturday, September 18, 9:00 - 4:00 pm
    • Thursday, September 23, 4:30 - 7:30 pm
    • Saturday, October 2, 9:00 - 4:00 pm
    • Tuesday, October 5, 4:30 - 7:30 pm

    Registration is required. Cost is $25. Classes will be in Linn County. For more information, call or email the Volunteer Coordinator.

  • Cooking for One 
    If you are now trying to adjust your meals to suit just one person or if you're looking for some tasty new recipes to cook for yourself, this four-part class is for you! The class will include tips on healthy meal planning for one, some hands-on time in the kitchen, and many recipes. Class size is limited so sign up soon!

    A free workshop that uses mind-body principles to teach gentle movement techniques to help you cope with and move through your grief after a loss.

  • Train Your Brain
    November 5    , noon - 1:00 p.m.
    Community Room, Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, 645 NW Monroe Street

    Join author and gerontologist Dr. Rob Winningham for an exploration of how lifestyle factors can delay or even prevent memory problems. Dr. Winningham will discuss recent research related to the 'use it or lose it' theory of memory and aging and provide practical suggestions for ways to maximize memory abilities.

    This lecture is co-sponsored by the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library.

  • Coping with the Holidays
    November 10, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m.

    Our annual Service of Remembrance is an opportunity for the community to remember and honor those who have died in the last year, whether or not they were with Benton Hospice Service. The city's annual Festival of Lights follows immediately after at 7:00 pm.
